Jamaica carnival has me thinking about Trinidad carnival and of course pelau 😂😂😂
#TBT to this post #Pelau is a Carnival tradition but please if you have a sexy costume stay away from this plate 😂😂😂 until #AshWednesday… #potatosalad #asianslaw #macaronisalad #avocado #BeefPelau and #freshsalad….went wild with the salads today. It’s Sunday people… smile!

Never heard of pelau before, looks like I’d nyam it off quick quick! What’s it’s tradition exactly?

Pelau is similar to the Jamaican rice and peas or Puerto Rican arroz con gandules…only difference we add meat (chicken, beef or pork). All cooked in one pot…rice, peas, meat and coconut milk 🙋 thank you for asking

Bwoy, that look like a lot more than rice & peas + meat haha. When do you traditionally eat it in relation to carnival?

Yes I went overboard that day, this is eaten any day of the week.

Okay, nice to know. Hopefully 1 day soon when in Trinidad I’ll try it.
